# Default Record Navigation Panel State

#### Overview

The Default Record Navigation Panel State setting controls whether the navigation panel on the left side of the Tree View is Expended or collapsed by default when a user opens a record.

·        Select Expanded if users want to see the record hierarchy and easily navigate between records.

·        Select Collapsed if users prefer more space to view the Tree View.

#### Where to Configure

On the Entity Configuration record's General tab, inside the Tree View Setting section, use the Default Record Navigation Panel State field.

#### Configuration Steps

1\.   Navigate to Settings > Entity Configurations and open the Entity Configuration record for the table (for example, Account).

1\.   On the General tab, scroll to the Tree View Setting section.

2\.   Confirm Tree View is set to Yes (the view must be enabled for this setting to apply).

3\.   Set Default Record Navigation Panel State to the desired option.

4\.   Select Save.

#### Result

The navigation panel opens or remains collapsed by default based on the option you selected.
