Understanding Marketing4Dynamics

Marketing4Dynamics is a bidirectional integration between Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and Mailchimp. It keeps customer data, campaign activity, and audience segmentation in sync across both platforms, so marketing and sales teams can work from a single source of truth without manually re-entering data in either system.

At a high level, Marketing4Dynamics moves data in two directions, and each direction has its own sync rules, triggers, and entities involved:

  • CRM → Mailchimp — Dynamics 365 Marketing Lists (Contacts/Leads), Tags, Groups/Interests, and Campaigns created or updated in CRM are pushed out to Mailchimp.

  • Mailchimp → CRM — Mailchimp Audiences, Members, Campaign activity/statistics, and subscription status changes are pulled into CRM.

These two flows are documented separately because the trigger logic differs meaningfully between them, what counts as "automatic" vs. "manual" sync is not symmetric across directions, and getting that distinction wrong is a common source of confusion during setup.

What each overview page covers

Dynamics 365 to Mailchimp Sync Overview Covers Static vs. Dynamic Marketing List sync behavior, Campaign sync (send-now vs. scheduled), and Tag/Group sync from CRM into Mailchimp.

Mailchimp to Dynamics 365 Sync Overview Covers Audience Sync modes (Full vs. Sync Only), Campaign recipient/activity sync, and subscription status (opt-in/opt-out) sync back into CRM.
