# Configure Enable Masking

The **Enable Masking** ensures that customer contact information, such as phone numbers, remains hidden from agents while still allowing seamless communication.

When masking is configured, agents can **send and receive messages, as well as initiate and receive calls**, without having access to the actual customer phone numbers. This helps maintain **data privacy while ensuring uninterrupted communication**.

If the **phone number field is secured (masked) in CRM using Column Security**, WhatsApp4Dynamics supports messaging and calling **without exposing the actual phone number**, provided that the **Enable Masking toggle is turned ON** in the configuration.

### Steps to Enable Masking

#### Step 1: Configure Masking in CRM

1\. Go to **CRM (Dynamics 365 / Power Apps)**

2\. Open the relevant entity (e.g., Contact / Lead)

3\. Apply **Column Security Profile** on phone number fields

4. Restrict access as required

#### Step 2: Enable Masking in WhatsApp4Dynamics

1\. Go to **WhatsApp4Dynamics**

2\. Open **Configurations**

3\. Locate the **Enable Masking** option

4\. Turn the toggle **ON**

5. Save Configuration

**Note:** When column security is enabled on the phone number field, ensure that the “Enable Masking” toggle is turned ON. This is required to continue sending messages without interruption.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.inogic.com/whatsapp4dynamics/configuration/configure-enable-masking.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
